How to register with ACCA

There are various entry routes to ACCA depending on your qualification:

  • Fresh school leavers: 2 A’ Levels and 3 GCSEs or equivalent in five separate subjects with grade C in Mathematics and English
  • 2 years undergrad degree from a recognized university
  • 4 years undergrad degree from a recognized university (exemptions are available in the relevant papers)
  • If you do not have any of the above qualifications, you can register for the Foundation Diploma (FD) of ACCA (on completion of FD, you will have the option to continue for Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification or take a transfer to ACCA with exemptions from first 3 papers of Knowledge Module)

Practical Experience Requirements

The ACCA qualification will prepare you for a challenging and often demanding career as professional accountants. It is not sufficient to solely rely on theoretical knowledge developed through the exam process. The ACCA qualification closely links practical experience to the exam syllabus.

To qualify as an ACCA member, student will need to complete three years of supervised practical experience in a relevant accounting and finance role. Ideally, students should start working while studying for their ACCA examinations however, this may be completed before or after qualifying ACCA papers.

 

In addition to practical experience, they are also required to complete nine performance objectives that include five Essentials and four Technical objectives. 

Professional Ethics Module

As part of the professional values and ethical developments, students are required to complete this module in addition to the exams and professional training. The Professional Ethics Module can be completed on-line or in writing.

 

The aim of this module is to give students exposure to a range of ethical perspectives. Ideally, this should be completed before, at the same time or soon after completing paper P1 (Governance, Risk, and Ethics), but it must be completed before applying for the membership.

Scholarship / Financial Assistance

We do offer merit scholarships to students on the basis of their academic performance and extra-curricular activities and those students who are unable to meet their tuition expenses can apply for the financial aid on the prescribed FA forms that are available in Admin Office. They are required to attach the supporting documents to prove their academic performance or need of the financial aid.

 

Students and parents will later be called for the interview by the Admission Committee. The committee will inform its final decision within two weeks of the interview.

Equivalency to M.Com in Pakistan (for ACCA members)

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has granted equivalence to ACCA qualification to M.Com. After completing professional qualification and other requisites including training and professional experience, ACCA members are awarded equivalence to M.Com by universities in Pakistan on the following terms and conditions:

 

  1. There will be no exemption availed to incomplete ACCA qualification.
  2. Initial admission in ACCA program must be after having at least 12 years of education (Intermediate, A-level or equivalent certification from IBCC Pakistan
BSc. (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University

A degree of B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Accountancy along with ACCA qualification gives an edge to ACCAs over other accounting professionals. The partnership between ACCA and Oxford Brookes University (OBU) gives students an opportunity to gain this degree while studying or after completing their ACCA examinations.

 

Students must apply for registration with OBU for the degree prior to passing ACCA Skill module papers FR, AA and FM. In addition to this, they will also be required to write a Research and Analysis Project and submit it to the University after completing all Skill module examinations.

 

CAMS provides mentoring to the students applying for the degree. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan recognizes the OBU degree as equivalent to a three-year bachelors’ degree.

 

To apply for the recognition of the degree to HEC, students must submit college joining and leaving certificates, an attendance certificate (minimum 80% in all ACCA papers) and grade report of all ACCA papers with a copy of the B.Sc. degree from OBU.

MSc. Professional Accounting for ACCA Students

 

ACCA students can start studying for MSc degree side by side with their ACCA Qualification and need to complete following two modules and a project:

Strategic Financial Management 

 

This module covers four main areas of Corporate Finance; Mergers and IPOs; Investment Management and International Capital Markets.

 

Strategic Performance Management

 

This module provides an understanding of key issues and applied methodologies relating to strategic management accounting, including Performance Management; Information Management and Evaluating Financial Risk.

 

Strategic Financial Project

 

The project covers the development of business research skills and their application to simulated real-world accounting finance related problems. Students have the opportunity to develop knowledge of research methodologies and apply these skills to the collection and analysis of data within a simulated accounting/finance related scenario.

 

MSc. Professional Accounting for ACCA Affiliates and Members

 

The ACCA affiliates and members can top up their ACCA Qualification with MSc Professional Accountancy of University of London through University College London.

 

Considering the accomplishment of the ACCA professional qualification, ACCA affiliates and members just need to complete one module and one project to earn MSc degree; this includes Global Issues for the Finance Professional and The Strategic Financial Project.

 

Global Issues for Finance Professionals 

 

This module equips candidates with an understanding of the conceptual frameworks of finance and accounting that have arisen from changes in the external global environment. The emphasis is on the practical problems and the evaluation of the options available. The module provides an opportunity for reflection in the context of the workplace for those who are in work.

 

Strategic Financial Project 

 

On completing this project, the candidate will well converse with the development of business research skills and their application to simulated accounting and finance-related problems. Candidates have the opportunity to develop knowledge of research methodologies and apply these skills to the collection and analysis of data within a simulated accounting/finance-related scenario.

 

This will involve identifying and analyzing data and information in relation to business challenges; researching alternative solutions and applying a judgment based assessment of the evidence.

Foundations in Professionalism

 

Foundations in Professionalism is an online interactive module that is designed to understand the meaning and importance of professionalism and ethics in the profession. This module has to be completed before or after completing CAT exams.

Computer Based Exams are available every month for all Foundation Diploma, CAT, Knowledge module of ACCA and one paper of Skill module (i.e Corporate and Business Law). This allows students rapid progress towards completing their ACCA, FD or CAT qualifications.

The CBEs for the Fundamental Level exams are also available but these are held in fixed exams schedule in March, June, September and December only.
